4Ocean Prepares to Pull One Millionth Pound of Trash from the Ocean and Coastlines

BOCA RATON, Fla., July 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- 4Ocean (www.4Ocean.com), an ocean cleanup company headquartered in Boca Raton, will pull their one millionth pound of trash on July 20, 2018. This comes less than two years after the company was founded in January 2017.

4Ocean will reach its one millionth pound of trash pulled from the ocean and coastlines on July 20, 2018. Launched in January 2017, 4Ocean global cleanups are funded entirely through the sale of sustainability products with every item purchased supporting the removal of one pound of trash from the ocean. The company is building the first economy for ocean plastic and creating a cleaner, more sustainable future for the ocean.

"This milestone shows us how much commitment there is from our customers, how much support there is from the communities and how much opportunity there is for us to make a difference in the future of the ocean," says 4Ocean Co-Founder Andrew Cooper.

To date, 4Ocean's cleanup efforts have been funded entirely by the sale of their bracelets, which are made from post-consumer recycled materials. Each bracelet purchased removes one pound of trash from the ocean and coastlines.

"This is an amazing opportunity because it's the first time anyone anywhere in the world can actively clean the ocean," says Cooper.

4Ocean will also be debuting two new products to celebrate the one millionth pound pulled.

"4Ocean is launching a reusable bottle to help eliminate single-use plastic bottles. This way, people can stay hydrated without having to use single-use plastic. Most importantly, this helps keep our oceans clean," shares 4Ocean Co-Founder Alex Schulze. "We're also coming out with a cleanup kit. This offers an opportunity for somebody who wants to engage with cleaning the ocean to get the proper supplies to do a cleanup on their own."

The branded reusable bottle and cleanup kit will be available for pre-order purchase on July 20.

4Ocean's full-time captains and crews remove plastic and trash from above and below the water and along the coastlines seven days a week with operations spanning from Florida to Bali.

"We're creating new, more sustainable economies around the world by paying fisherman to collect plastic and trash from the ocean instead of fish. It's changing the way people think about the problem of plastic pollution," explains Schulze.

"As a for-profit business, we're able to give ocean trash a monetary value and incentivize people all over the world to change their behavior," says Cooper.  "That's how we clean the ocean and drive the actions and policies that will prevent trash from entering it in the first place.

"Who disrupts industries, non-profits or the private sector? For example, Tesla with regards to big oil.  And that's why we are here."

Schulze says that "4Ocean's goal is to be the largest ocean cleanup company. We want to have Cleanup Divisions in all corners of the globe that are pulling plastic out of the most impactful areas and cleaning our oceans."

The 4Ocean team headquartered in Boca Raton has a company-wide cleanup scheduled on July 20 to celebrate. Employees from every department will be at Red Reef Park pulling plastic and trash.

4Ocean (www.4Ocean.com) is a sustainability brand started by two surfers with a vision of cleaning the ocean and coastlines, one pound at a time. Their global cleanups are funded entirely through the sale of their sustainability products, where every item purchased funds the removal of one pound of trash from the ocean. By creating jobs, utilizing the latest technology, and raising awareness about the impact of trash in the ocean, the company is building the first economy for ocean plastic and creating a cleaner, more sustainable future for the ocean.
