Pioneer Development of an Artificial Intelligence Ethical Module

MADRID, Spain, July 16, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- ? The company Acuilae launches ETHYKA, a pioneering module in incorporating ethics into artificial intelligence-based technology

Ethyka platform

? ETHYKA solves the potential ethical corruption of autonomous learning systems in contact with humans

? The ETHYKA module contemplates several ethical models and is designed to be the cutting-edge component across many diverse professional fields

? ETHYKA can be implemented in virtual systems, autonomous units, apps and web services

The company Acuilae has announced their pioneering launch of ETHYKA: the first ethical module in artificial intelligence that is capable of analyzing various complex dilemmas in order to optimize the functionality of artificial intelligence equipment, improve their decisions and avoid their corruption.  It achieves this by following different ethical standards, decision making criteria and models of human behaviour.

The module has been researched and designed by a mixed Spanish and British team of multidisciplinary professionals from cutting-edge technologies.

The development of consciousness in artificial intelligence

Thinkers today are concerned about the development of consciousness in artificial intelligence. Developing awareness in robots is not the same as equipping them with the functionality to perform counterproductive actions. The question remains: how is ethics going to be included in artificial intelligence?

So far, domain-specific artificial intelligence focuses on the realization of algorithms that are intended to solve only a single specific task. Although these algorithms are generally more efficient than humans when performing the task, they do not have the ability to execute tasks beyond the reason for which they were programmed.

The goal of ETHYKA, a project developed by the company Acuilae, is to provide artificial intelligence with ethics, ensuring that, in the near and impending future, actions derived from data analysis will be executed through ethical choices and decisions, developing a safer, better and more respectful relationship with humans.

What is ETHYKA?

ETHYKA solves the urgent need to apply ethics to artificial intelligence by incorporating them into the design of these machines. It is not merely about introducing a program that emulates certain human behaviours or functions, but one that it is capable of answering the question: What kind of ethical behaviour should robots, machines and automated systems follow?

We envisage that the incorporation of ETHYKA in such new products will become a standard for organizations dedicated to the development and production of technology based on Artificial Intelligence.

Resolving potential ethical 'corruption'

Certain health care systems and robots in contact with humans tend to become corrupted. The contact of robots, bots and virtual assistants with machine learning can lead to this type of behaviour.

ETHYKA is designed to solve the problem of the potential moral 'corruption' of autonomous learning systems in contact with humans.  It aims to address improvement in the decision-making of hybrid man-machine systems and the actions of autonomous systems (vehicles, robots or drones).

Its framework allows ETHYKA's agility enables it to easily implement ethical and moral models in artificial intelligence systems (robots, virtual assistants, etc.). It can be implemented in virtual assistants, autonomous units or simply in app or web services.

ETHYKA offers a frame of reference and an interface for programming applications to be used by developers in their software and hardware projects, allowing them quick implementation, Full customizability and provides an ethical component to the systems. All this comes with an already trained and configured, fast and functional installation.

Module Architecture

ETHYKA is a module that has been designed and developed to solve the problems of decision-making in the face of ethical dilemmas that are found in society throughout various professional fields (medicine, justice, education, etc.), in social and cultural fields (care of adults, theatres, museums, cinemas) and on means of transport (metro, trains, planes, cars, motorcycles), as well as many others.

The Spanish team that has developed ETHYKA

ETHYKA is a solution from the Spanish company Acuilae. The team is directed by Cristina Sánchez with the collaboration of multidisciplinary professionals in last generation technologies.

Cristina Sánchez is Acuilae´s CEO.  She has extensive experience through working for Accenture as well as other large companies. Complementing this, she has skills in performance statistics, Information Technology and Data Science tasks. Bringing a wealth of knowledge and skillsets to this Project.

Pedro Diezma has also actively collaborated in this project.  He is one of the world's leading experts in Wearable Technology, The Internet of Things and Cognitive Artificial Intelligence.  He is also a member of MENSA and Winner of the "Best Wearable Initiative Award" in eHealth 2017 as well as the "Best Technological Solution for work safety" in 2018.
