New Book Offers Insight on Raising the Next Generation of Strong, Capable Women Through Success in Sports and Academics

PITTSBURGH, July 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Female equity and empowerment...  The women's movement... Girl power... Today's headlines continuously remind us that the time for raising strong, successful women is now. How do today's girls become tomorrow's leaders? With grit. As women's rights & female empowerment have become part of the mainstream conversation, this notion of Finding Grit is more relevant than ever. In their new parenting book, authors Don and Magy Martin define grit as "the ability to survive difficulty and failure and learn how to achieve... the art of cultivating resilience." How do we raise our daughters to embrace this resilience and use it to grow into strong, capable women?

"We want to provide you with a way to help you enjoy watching your daughter grow up to be a healthy and successful woman," the Martins explain. "It is time to reclaim your role as a leader and model for her future. It is time to be proud as a parent as you see your daughter grow into a successful athlete and scholar. It is time to enjoy the responsibility of being a parent of a wonderful daughter. It is time to start."

Using real-world experience and years of professional research, the Martins have put together a how-to guide for parents who want to help their daughters get to the forefront of both athletics and academics. This book is a boot camp for ingraining the skills, attitude and fortitude that empower girls to become leaders in their chosen fields as adults. From what chores to assign a 3-year-old in order to teach them responsibility and respect to helping parents understand the ins and outs of the collegiate athletic recruitment and scholarship process ? Finding Grit is about finding a unique place in this world for your daughter and the journey you must both take to get there.
