Local entrepreneur teams up with HGTV's Bryan Baeumler to bring a new board game to market

NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, ON, July 10, 2018 /CNW/ - Board games have experienced a strong resurgence. Recognizing this, along with the astonishing level of interest in all things house related as seen through the popularity of networks such as HGTV and DIY, Al Huberts saw an opportunity. He designed a new board game, one that would bring the excitement and challenges of building a house in a format that family and friends would enjoy.

"It took a few years to create this game, there was a lot of research involved. I wanted to ensure the game's accuracy, so I approached my favourite HGTV host, Bryan Baeumler, to get his opinion and expertise. Bryan loved the game and has since become involved with the project, allowing us to use his name and image," says Huberts.

Together, Huberts and Baeumler have launched the board game called Build-iT With Bryan Step By Step on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter. "The game is set and ready for production, in fact we have several prototypes already on hand," adds Huberts.

While Build-iT With Bryan Step By Step has some similarities to other classic gathering games that require a combination of luck and strategy, Huberts' addition has an extra element which he refers to as strategic luck. This not only adds to the excitement and competitiveness of the game, but speeds up the pace of it as well.

The goal of the game is to be the first "builder" (player) to complete construction of a house without going bankrupt. Unlike other gathering board games, builders can choose to roll one, two or three dice to move around or through the centre of the board, purchasing job pieces to complete the construction of their house. As with any construction project, builders will encounter Good Days and Bad Days and situations that will Cost More or Cost Less that will impact a builder's success.

"Board games have been making a big comeback, and as a father of four, I can see the attraction. You want to spend time with family and friends away from the distraction of devices and truly enjoy that quality time together. My family and I have been having a blast playing this game, and I believe other families will enjoy it as much as we do," says Baeumler.

Build-iT With Bryan Step By Step has launched on Kickstarter with both original and limited edition copies. Now through August 4, 2018 backers have the chance to secure their copy of the game by clicking this link or searching Build-iT With Bryan Step By Step on Kickstarter.
