AMPLEXOR's 20th Annual BE THE EXPERT Event Focuses on Artificial Intelligence, Regulatory Information Management and Their Impact on Life Sciences

BROOMFIELD, Colo., July 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Life Sciences division of AMPLEXOR recently wrapped up its 20th annual agenda-setting conference and training, BE THE EXPERT 2018, where more than 140 attendees from 30 different countries gather in Dubrovnik, Croatia to participate in a series of keynotes, presentations, training sessions and strategy sessions.

A key of theme of BE THE EXPERT 2018 was artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential in Life Sciences. Keynote speaker Professor Josef van Genabith of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), kicked off the conference with a presentation that outlined how AI can power a new approach to translations in Life Sciences ? neural machine translation (NMT).

With AMPLEXOR currently collaborating with DFKI on the development of its own enterprise-grade, NMT solution, attendees were provided with a glimpse of the sheer power and potential of AI, as Elvis Pa?elat, Executive Vice President, Life Sciences, AMPLEXOR explains:

"AI was a constant throughout BE THE EXPERT 2018, with presenters outlining how it can help Life Sciences in a number of ways, from improving regulatory requirements and compliance processes to speeding up time-to-market. NMT and machine learning will be key technologies in the industry over the next five years and it was fascinating to explore some of the ways in which they can help."

The diverse line-up of thought leaders and subject matter experts also had a strong focus on regulatory requirements and the methods and technologies used to manage them most effectively. Regulatory Information Management (RIM) grows ever more important in life sciences and speakers from AMPLEXOR customers AbbVie and Alexion shared their own experiences of best practice RIM implementation.

RIM expert Andrew Marr has spoken at a number of previous AMPLEXOR BE THE EXPERT events and his presentation this year looked at RIM over the last 20 years and what may happen in the future. Steve Gens of Gens & Associates also focused on RIM, stressing how regulatory information is an enterprise asset, but that there was also much work for the industry to focus in terms of improving the exchange of information with health authorities and collaboration partners, to help realize those benefits.

How Life Sciences firms manage data was another key theme of BE THE EXPERT 2018, with a number of experts highlighting how poorly categorised and managed data can negate many of the benefits brought about by technologies such as AI.

"Life Sciences is a sector that faces enormous challenges around compliance and regulation, but it was also clear from BE THE EXPERT that data can play a significant role in addressing these challenges," continued Pa?elat. "The right content management platform can turn that data into true competitive advantage and as an industry we can collectively look forward to the future with confidence."

AMPLEXOR has announced its BE THE EXPERT 2019onference and training to take place 5-7 June 2019. Click here for more information.
