Religious Persecution In Burma Continues Against Christians

WASHINGTON, July 9, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Interfaith Coalition to Stop Genocide in Burma will host a press briefing of first-hand accounts of the Burmese Military's human rights violations. Pastor Bob Roberts, who just returned from visiting the Kachin region, and two Kachin Christians who escaped the persecution will speak about their experience in Burma under the rule of the Buddhist majority and the latest activity by the military to oust religious minorities from the country.

The Faith Coalition is calling on the U.S. government to more aggressively intervene in the situation and to engage in sanctions against the Burmese government and its military. Since August 2017 more than 700,000 Rohingya refugees have fled Burma due to horrific conditions of torture, rape, and murder at the hands of the Burmese government. The Kachin Christians are now facing the same treatment as the genocide continues.
