NIH Grant May Mean Big Breakthrough For Small Patients

BALTIMORE, July 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Clear Guide Medical, Inc., has received a $2M National Institutes of Health grant to adapt its innovative instrument guidance system to pediatric procedures. Working with clinicians and researchers at Children's National Medical Center, a top children's hospital in Washington, DC, Clear Guide will adapt, test and evaluate the use of the company's existing SCENERGY device to pediatric procedures like vessel cannulations.  These needle punctures are one of the more difficult procedures in pediatrics because of patient size.  Clear Guide will develop portable, point-of-care needle guidance for physicians and other clinical personnel to enable more successful first-pass needle sticks.  Using Clear Guide's patented technology, the device, once developed, can also be deployed in emergency rooms and other point-of-care facilities where ultrasound is used for guiding difficult needle insertions.
