Fighting Hunger, One Meal at a Time Mann Eye Institute has a Vision for Service

HOUSTON, July 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- During the school year, more than 20 million American children receive free or reduced-priced meals during the school day, according to FeedingAmerica.org. So the summer months can leave many families struggling to make sure every family member has enough to eat on a daily basis. Food banks ? especially those in larger cities like Houston ? have a higher need for donations and volunteers during the months when school is not in session.

The team at Mann Eye Institute is doing its part this summer to give back to the local community it serves every day. On Saturday, July 21, a team of volunteers from Mann Eye will serve at the Houston Food Bank all morning - making meals, sorting donations, assembling grocery bags full of staple food and spending time with the families who come in to receive the food bank's services.

"Service has always been a part of our core mission here at Mann Eye Institute," said Dr. Mike Mann, founder of the successful ophthalmology practice that has been a hallmark of Houston for more than 40 years. "Treating every person with respect, honor, dignity and gratitude is just part of the culture of Mann Eye Institute. And we are always looking for ways to practice what we preach!"

From generous donations to a variety of causes to active participation in medical mission trips to underserved areas of the world, Mann Eye Institute is a strong leader in the city of Houston and a pioneer in the future of vision correction procedures. But even as Mann Eye looks forward, they never lose sight of their commitment to giving back.

For over 40 years, the accomplished vision specialists at Mann Eye Institute have been at the forefront of vision correction. Mann Eye Institute's unwavering commitment to personalized patient care, advanced surgical expertise and outstanding results have merited the practice a reputation for excellence in eye care. Tens of thousands of patients from all over the country have trusted their vision to Mann Eye's dedicated team of skilled professionals for LASIK, cataract surgery and more.
