About TeamMTL, the Deep-Performance Dwelling and the Solar Decathlon China 2018

TeamMTL is a collaboration between McGill and Concordia universities, participating in the Solar Decathlon China 2018 international competition. Originally launched in 2002 by the Department of Energy of the United States, the competition challenges each team to design and build a net-zero energy, solar-powered and fully equipped home for a family unit. Each home is evaluated according to quantitative and qualitative criteria organized in 10 different contests.

TeamMTL's Deep-Performance Dwelling is a row-house designed specifically for Montreal's urban context. It features exceptionally high performance regarding energy efficiency, comfort, well-being, durability, affordability, and ecological awareness. The house was built in Montreal in summer 2017, before being disassembled in order to be built again in China during the competition, which will be held at Dezhou, the "Sun city" of China from July 9th until August 17th 2018.
