Unifor members ratify collective agreements with Bombardier
TORONTO, June 24, 2018 /CNW/ - Members of two Unifor locals working at Bombardier Aerospace in Downsview ratified collective agreements, strengthening their pensions and job security.
"Unifor members at both locals 112 and 673 identified job security as their key priority for this round of bargaining," said Jerry Dias Unifor National President. "By strengthening job commitment language, this contract will provide members with greater job security for the future. "
The newly ratified collective agreements cover members of Unifor Local 112 who work in production at the Downsview plant, as well as members of Unifor Local 673 who work in technical office and clerical positions.
"With so much economic and political uncertainty in the aerospace sector, the bargaining committee was committed and successful in negotiating better working conditions for members," said Scott McIlmoyle, President of Unifor Local 112.
The three-year contracts for both Unifor locals include wage increases in each year at a rate of 0.5 per cent in the first year, 0.75 per cent in the second year and one per cent in the final year of the contract. The newly ratified agreements expire on June 23, 2021. The contracts also include enhancements to dental benefits, pension increases, and a retirement incentive program.
"The gains made in this contract are a testament of the determination of the bargaining committees," said Mary Ellen McIlmoyle, President of Unifor Local 673.
