Silicon Valley Legend Tim Draper and the Prime Minister of Malta Launch DELTA Summit 2018, Malta's Official DLT Event

VALLETTA, Malta, June 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Famed billionaire venture capitalist Mr. Tim Draper was the guest of honor at the DELTA Summit pre-summit launch event held at Auberge de Castille in Valletta. Hundreds of local and international guests from throughout the global technology industry met to celebrate the upcoming DELTA Summit to be held in Malta between October 3-5th.

DELTA Summit will be Malta's official platform from where to promote Malta as a blockchain and digital innovation centre of excellence. Dr. Abdalla Kablan, Founder of DELTA Summit and an award-winning entrepreneur specialising in machine intelligence, hosted the event and presided over a round table, interviewing Mr. Draper, Mr. Silvio Schembri, Junior Minister for Financial Services, Digital Economy & Innovation, and Ms. Tugce Ergul, founder and director of Angel Labs.

Malta's Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Muscat addressed the audience via a taped video saying how pleased he was endorsing the DELTA Summit, Malta's official and leading blockchain and digital innovation conference. Changpeng Zhao, better known as CZ and CEO of Binance, one of the world's largest Digital Exchanges, also spoke by video extolling Malta as the world's leading blockchain centre. He said Malta offers "legal clarity, encourages innovation and its thought leaders and regulators are forward thinkers." Zhao was clearly delighted by Malta's plans, going so far as to describe the Maltese regulators he spoke to and advised as "some of the smartest and most forward-thinking people on the planet." Tim Draper added that Malta has got a big lead and an early start over the other countries.

Dr. Kablan, who is also one of chairmen of the Malta Stock Exchange Blockchain Committee and one of the instrumental figures behind the Malta Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) regulation, said he believed Malta was "on the verge of becoming the first country in the world to regulate Technology Arrangements and Services such as DLT and blockchain." He said he also expected that many Maltese entities under the new regulatory framework will be adapters and innovators in block chain technology. Mr. Draper said that he thought Malta could be an excellent example of how a county could effectively and efficiently manage government services via the blockchain.
