The Union of Jewish Universalist Communities a new Jewish Movement adopts inclusive Mission Statement


NEW YORK, June 19, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On Sunday, June 9, 2018, the member rabbis of the Union of Jewish Universalist Communities ("UJUC") met to discuss and vote on the acceptance of the UJUC's new mission statement. The following mission statement was adopted by unanimous agreement:

"The UJUC is a union of Jewish communities that recognizes the uniting presence of a Universal God, our Source, and the loving light of community. The UJUC embraces all who want to gather, worship, celebrate and explore humanity and nature through the lenses of Jewish spirituality, liturgy and tradition.

The UJUC provides member Rabbis, Cantors and communities with genuine connection along with spiritual guidance, resources and liturgy that reflect our belief system."

One of the UJUC's Founders, Rabbi Steven Blane, stated: "The UJUC is entering into a new and expanded phase of its development and outreach. The adoption of this new Mission Statement is just one of the current activities the UJUC is engaged in. We are using this mission statement to guide the UJUC into the future and to provide a focus for our growing union of rabbis and congregations. UJUC members practice 'Judaism without Borders'".

The UJUC is a group of progressively-minded rabbis and their communities who welcome participants from all walks of life. The Union seeks to nurture the greater good by emphasizing compassion and love for all humankind. Currently, there are 20 Union of Jewish Universalist communities in the US, Israel, and Japan. Six (6) additional communities and their Rabbis are being considered for membership.

Sim Shalom is an interactive online Jewish Universalist synagogue, which is liberal in thought and traditional in liturgy. Rabbi Blane is also the founder and director of the Spiritual Leader's Institute, the online professional rabbinical program.
