REMINDER: Multicultural March set to Denounce Slaughterhouse Cruelty in Seven Languages

MONTREAL, June 15, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Quebecers of diverse cultural communities mobilize to demonstrate that animal rights is a global cause. Armed with banners, drums, and artwork, people of all ages and backgrounds unite to express their indignation at the treatment of animals in Canadian slaughterhouses. This international event is part of the growing anti-slaughter movement with four rallies happening in Canada, and over thirty more marches taking place in Europe, Australia, Argentina, Japan, Turkey, and the United States.

Date: Saturday, June 16
Time: 1:00 pm
Place: Square St. Louis, Montreal; The March concludes at Parc La Fontaine

"There is no suffering that we inflict on animals that we do not inflict on humans," notes event spokesperson Dr. Stevan Harnad, cognitive scientist and professor of psychology at the Université du Québec à Montréal. "But the vast difference is that the suffering we inflict on humans is seen as wrong by most decent people ? and it is also against the law. Not so for animals. Most of us are not only unaware of their agony in slaughterhouses, but also actively sustaining it as consumers."

The march is led by KARA (Kebek Animal Rights Association), a dynamic organizer in compelling public events for animal rights. Media networks Radio-Canada, TVA, CTV, CBC, La Presse, Le Journal de Montréal, Le Journal de Québec, Huffington Post and CJAD reported on KARA's previous events including the current Anti-Rodeo controversy.
