Entwistle Family Foundation will support Canadian grassroots charities alongside TELUS' Community Boards

TELUS' President and Chief Executive Officer, Darren Entwistle and his family launching the Entwistle Family Foundation to support Canadian charities

VANCOUVER, June 14, 2018 /CNW/ - Darren and Fiona Entwistle, along with their two children, announced the creation of the Entwistle Family Foundation to help at-risk Canadian youth realize their full potential. This philanthropic foundation will complement the support provided by TELUS Corporation to youth-impacting organizations by making additional donations based on funding recommendations received from the TELUS Community Boards and the TELUS Foundation. Importantly, this supplemental funding contributed through the Entwistle Family Foundation will assist charitable organizations that would benefit from additional support in achieving their social impact goals. To inaugurate this charitable endeavour, Darren will donate $1 million to the Foundation.

"The establishment of the Entwistle Family Foundation reflects my family's deep belief in TELUS' social purpose focused on health and education, particularly concerning at-risk youth," said Darren Entwistle. "We share the TELUS team's heartfelt commitment to enabling improved social and educational opportunities for our future leaders, through programmes and initiatives that are helping children and teens stay safe online and rise above cyberbullying; keeping vulnerable youth who are aging out of foster care connected to the people and vital resources that matter most; and providing underserved kids with school day essentials, such as a backpack full of school supplies, a healthy meal and clothing on their back. The Entwistle Family Foundation allows us to build on the incredible legacy of giving exemplified by the TELUS team and the TELUS Community Boards as we strive, collectively, to improve the lives of youth who need our support the most."

The Entwistle Family Foundation is a natural extension of the Entwistle family's personal dedication to supporting positive outcomes for young, at-risk Canadians, and of Darren's leadership in the creation, design and expansion of the TELUS Community Boards. TELUS' 13 Canadian community boards and 5 International boards have led TELUS' support of grassroots charities by putting funding decisions in the hands of local community leaders and team members who know their neighbourhood best. Through these boards alone, $69.8 million has been donated in support of nearly 6,500 local charitable projects since 2005, enriching the lives of more than two million children and youth, annually.
