WordSouth Employee Chosen For National Podcast Fellowship

RAINSVILLE, Ala., June 12, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- WordSouth's Kelsey Gilbert was selected for The Podcast Fellowship, a national program created by best-selling author and entrepreneur Seth Godin and successful podcast producer Alex DiPalma.

Through the program, Godin has challenged participants to build a podcast and to record 30 episodes that capture insights and experiences in an area the participants care about.

Gilbert, 23, worked as an intern with WordSouth last summer, and she returned to the firm after graduating from Jacksonville State University with a degree in public relations.

The fellowship consists of about 200 people hand-picked to participate in the online program. Participants will learn useful techniques such as transcribing interviews, pitching stories, and structuring and mixing podcast episodes.

"I am thrilled to begin this fellowship. I have been an avid podcast listener for a long time, and this is the perfect way to connect with other people while allowing them a platform to tell their stories," Gilbert said.

Gilbert is focusing her podcast on millennials in rural America, with topics such as millennials who landed their dream jobs, millennials living in areas where the opioid epidemic is ravaging communities and millennials who graduated during the Great Recession.

Godin is an American author and former business executive. He has written 18 best-selling books, including "The Dip," "Linchpin," "Purple Cow," "Tribes" and "What To Do When It's Your Turn (And It's Always Your Turn)." He is also a blogger who writes about the marketing of ideas in the digital age. He was inducted into the American Marketing Association's Marketing Hall of Fame in 2018.

DiPalma's work includes Akimbo, Minnesota Public Radio and "Food4Thot." She also works as a producer at Midroll Media, where she creates original podcasts for brands.
