Canada and Quebec support renovation of tourism centre in Plessisville


PLESSISVILLE, QC, June 12, 2018 /CNW/ - The governments of Canada and Quebec recognize that tourism infrastructure plays a key role in developing dynamic, prosperous communities and showcasing Canada's and Quebec's heritage.

The Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and Laurent Lessard, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and Minister Responsible for the Centre-du-Québec Region, today announced that the governments of Canada and Quebec will each invest over $200,000 to renovate the Carrefour de L'Érable in Plessisville. This building houses, among others, the regional tourist information office and administrative offices for culture and tourism employees of the RCM of L'Érable.

This support comes from the New Building Canada Fund, Provincial-Territorial Infrastructure Component?Small Communities Fund. The City of Plessisville will also invest more than $200,000 for a total government-municipal investment of over $605,000.

The project involves replacing the roof and windows, and upgrading the interior and siding to prevent deterioration and ensure a healthy workplace.
