Media Advisory - Photo Stunt: "G7 leaders" on a Canadian camping trip, ignoring the climate crisis

View the event here

QUEBEC CITY, June 8, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - The stunt: Oxfam activists, dressed in plaid flannel, disguised and performing as the leaders of the G7 nations, are out on a typical Canadian camping trip?fishing, paddling, enjoying a picnic in the great outdoors! Meanwhile, the Earth burns in the campfire behind them.

Parc de la Francophonie, Quebec City (CNW Group/OXFAM-QUEBEC)

Why: Droughts, hurricanes, and wildfires have been supercharged by climate change and threaten the lives of millions of people. Poor women, many marginalized because of their social status, race, ethnicity or other factors, are even more at risk.

The G7 countries need to commit significantly more resources to help poor communities cope with the impacts of climate change. They must ensure women's voices are present and heard in climate negotiations, so that more of that climate adaptation finance reaches poor women.

When: Saturday, June 9 at 9:00 AM

Where: Parc de la Francophonie, Quebec City

Who: Oxfam spokespeople will be available for interviews following the stunt.
