Healthy Paws Foundation Funds Second Rescue Race

SEATTLE, May 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Healthy Paws Pet Insurance Foundation is proud to announce another successful finish to their quarterly Rescue Race! Launched last November, the Healthy Paws Rescue Race is a grant program that supports pet welfare nonprofits by awarding them funds and giving some much-needed exposure through an online voting process. With $50,000 donated among six selected organizations, the stakes are high as organizations "race" for the biggest prize through social sharing and word of mouth. The last race began April 6 and the winners crossed the finish line on April 23. Drumroll, please; and the winners are:

Healthy Paws Foundation Funds Second Rescue Race

$20,000 Grant Recipient: Shadow's Fund

"Shadow's Fund is dedicated to helping the most vulnerable shelter dogs find hope and a second chance," says cofounder Jill Anderson. Situated on 100 acres in Santa Barbara County, the sanctuary houses senior dogs, dogs who were neglected or abused, and "pit bull"-type dogs who face little chance for adoption. They're given the opportunity to find love and a forever home with this organization. "The [Rescue Race] funds will be used to support the operation of our sanctuary and the care of our animals, giving all dogs the chance they deserve."

$10,000 Grant Recipient: Pug Nation Rescue of LA

Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. "Every year Pug Nation saves and adopts out hundreds of loving Pugs from the streets of Southern California," says director Gwen Vallone. "Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives." The grant will go to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at their "Pug Station" with the goal of helping to find forever homes for these dogs.

Our final four runners-up include the following $5,000 Grant Recipients: Dogs2DogTags, Operation Paws for Homes, The Cat's Meow, and the Utah Animal Adoption Center

The funding for this grant program is made possible through the Healthy Paws' Every Quote Gives Hope program, where every free quote for pet insurance results in a donation to help homeless pets. "Giving grants for homeless pets through the Healthy Paws Rescue Race is really exciting for our entire team," says Healthy Paws Pet Insurance and Foundation co-founder Rob Jackson. "This program is core to our mission of helping pets get the best care possible."
