Media Advisory - WSIB Day of Mourning ceremony on April 27 will honour all who have died, been injured or suffered illness in the workplace
TORONTO, April 25, 2018 /CNW/ - In advance of the National Day of Mourning on Saturday, April 28, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) will commemorate the Day at a public ceremony on Friday, April 27.
The ceremony is being held to mourn and honour those workers who have died, been injured or suffered illness in the workplace. Threads of Life families who have lost loved ones along with other WSIB stakeholders will attend and St. Michael's Choir School will be performing at the ceremony.
WHEN: Friday, April 27, 2018 ? 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. WHERE: Simcoe Park, located on the west side of the WSIB office at 200 Front St. W., Toronto WHO: Speakers will include:
Erin Pitruzzella, Threads of Life testimonial speaker (her husband was a construction labourer who was struck and killed by a dump truck in 2009)

A black-wrapped Day of Mourning streetcar is running throughout downtown Toronto in April. On Thursday, April 26, during the rush hour commute (4:30 to 7:30 p.m.), the streetcar will run empty as a special tribute to those who died because of work and never made their commute home.

To unite Ontarians in remembering and as visual tributes, the 3D TORONTO sign in Nathan Phillips Square, the CN Tower and Niagara Falls will be lit in yellow, traditionally a colour of hope, on Saturday evening, April 28.
