Media Advisory - Governor General to Unveil a Canada Post Stamp to Mark the 65th Anniversary of the Coronation of Her Majesty The Queen

OTTAWA, April 18, 2018 /CNW/ - Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, along with Jessica L. McDonald, Chair of the Board of Directors and Interim President and CEO of Canada Post, will unveil a postage stamp to commemorate the 65th anniversary of Her Majesty The Queen's coronation, during a ceremony at Rideau Hall on Friday, April 20, 2018, at 10 a.m.

As the longest-reigning monarch in our history, Her Majesty The Queen has been, for generations of Canadians, the only monarch depicted on Canadian stamps in their lifetime.

This latest stamp features a portrait taken by renowned Canadian photographer Yousuf Karsh in 1951. Captured just months before Her Majesty's ascension to the Throne, the image was also the inspiration for Canada Post's original coronation series of stamps issued in 1953.

This stamp issue continues Canada Post's long history of commemorating royal events and milestones, including coronations, weddings and birthdays. For more information, visit www.canadapost.ca.

Media wishing to cover this event are asked to confirm their attendance with the
Rideau Hall Press Office and must arrive at the Princess Anne Entrance
no later than 9:45 a.m. on the day of the event.
