BCUC Concludes Community Input Sessions in its Inquiry into the Regulation of Electric Vehicle Charging Service
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, April 17, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) has concluded its community input sessions in the Inquiry into the Regulation of Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Service. The BCUC initiated the Inquiry on January 12, 2018 noting that the services provided by EV charging stations are currently in an early development stage in British Columbia and that other entities may emerge over time to provide EV charging service.
The BCUC's independent inquiry is exploring the potential regulatory issues, including the level of regulation necessary (if any) in the EV charging stations market, the rates for EV charging service, and any other matters that should be considered by the BCUC. The BCUC values public input in its proceedings. The Inquiry panel held 10 community input sessions in eight communities across British Columbia where participants provided valuable input and raised many issues and opportunities in the EV charging service market. The Inquiry panel will consider these matters in the development of a report on the regulation of electric vehicle charging services in BC.
Although the input sessions concluded in Vancouver on Monday night, there are still a number of ways for members of the public to participate, including:
- Submitting a letter of comment: to share views and opinions in the Inquiry
- Registering as an interested party: to receive email notification of evidence filed in the Inquiry, including the final panel report, when issued.
- Becoming an intervener: for those who wish to actively participate and file evidence. Intervener registration has closed; however, late requests may be considered.
