Media Advisory - Mayor Tory's Mental Health & Cities Summit to shine a light on mental health needs in urban centres


TORONTO, April 8, 2018 /CNW/ - Toronto Mayor John Tory will host the Mental Health & Cities Summit on April 9, in partnership with Toronto Public Health, the Wellesley Institute, The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), CivicAction, Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Registration begins at 8 a.m.)

University of Toronto, Hart House, 7 Hart House Circle

Mayor Tory and the other mayors from across Canada in attendance at the Summit will hold a media availability at 12 p.m. in the South Dining Room, located on the 2nd floor of Hart House, to address questions related to the Summit. Mayors at the Summit include Gregor Robertson of Vancouver, Bonnie Crombie of Mississauga, Danny Breen of St. John's, Drew Dilkens of Windsor, Berry Vbranovic of Kitchener, and Matt Brown of London.

The Mental Health & Cities Summit will bring together politicians, academics, frontline practitioners, employers and others who regularly feel the impact of mental health in their communities, with a mandate to identify and drive areas for change. Along with examining the impacts of mental health and possible actions, other topics to be covered include: mental health first aid; student mental health; mental health in the workplace, and the role of data in health policy development.
