HBS Club of NY Announces New Board Chair And President

NEW YORK, March 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Harvard Business School Club of New York (HBSCNY), the world's largest alumni organization of Harvard Business School (HBS), is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has elected Mark Tatum and Andrew Cheskis to the roles of Board Chair and President, respectively, effective July 1, 2018.  They will succeed outgoing Chair Bruce Bockmann and President Katherine Bahamonde Monasebian

Mr. Tatum is the National Basketball Association's (NBA's) Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer.  He is a 19-year veteran of the league office, responsible for the NBA's business operations. This includes leading the NBA's international operations and overseeing its Global Partnerships, Marketing, Communications and Team Marketing and Business Operations Departments.  Mr. Tatum received a bachelor's degree in business management and marketing from Cornell University in 1991 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1998.

Mr. Cheskis served as an executive of MasterCard Inc. for 24 years, including roles as General Auditor and Senior Vice President of Franchise Management.  He is currently the Board President of the American Classical Orchestra, New York's leading period instrument orchestra.  Mr. Cheskis received a bachelor's degree in economics and philosophy from Bucknell University in 1980 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1984.

Mr. Bockmann has served as Board Chair of HBSCNY for four years.  He is a former Managing Director of Morgan Stanley and an independent entrepreneur focused on game-changing innovation.  Ms. Bahamonde Monasebian has served as HBSCNY President for three years.  In her current role at ALEX AND ANI, she leads global marketing and digital efforts and has P&L responsibility for the e-commerce business channel.  She held similar roles at Tourneau, C. Wonder, and Juicy Couture.

During Mr. Bockmann's and Ms. Bahamonde Monasebian's terms leading HBSCNY, the organization substantially expanded its range of services to include facilitation and support of entrepreneurship among HBS alumni, the largest Angel investing organization in New York, and a program dedicated to addressing the skills gap in the healthcare and IT sectors in New York.  While the organization's impact has grown, it has also created an infrastructure which will enable further expansion in the coming years.

Mr. Cheskis commented, "The HBS Club of New York is a unique and powerful platform.  I look forward to building on the existing foundation as we continue to increase our impact on the New York community, our alumni, and Harvard Business School."

Mr. Tatum added, "The HBS Club of New York has built a remarkably vibrant community.  I'm proud to be associated with an organization that enables our alumni to use their leadership and business skills to make such a meaningful difference."
