UL Warns of Counterfeit UL Mark on Fire Sprinklers (Release 18PN-07)


NORTHBROOK, Ill., March 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is a notification from UL that the fire sprinkler, identified below, bears a counterfeit UL Certification Mark for Canada. The fire sprinkler has not been evaluated by UL to the appropriate Standards for Safety and it is not known if the fire sprinkler complies with any safety requirements.

Although the fire sprinkler is marked "PRO," the fire sprinkler was not manufactured by Protector Safety Ind. Co.

Name of Product: Model PS002

Identification on the Product: The product is marked with a counterfeit UL Certification Mark for Canada and the following:

52TN PS002 155F/68C PROTECTOR (on the deflector)
PRO (on the wrench stop)

Location:

The fire sprinklers have been found in Indonesia. UL has not received reports of these counterfeit fire sprinklers in other locations.
