Improved downstream demand revives dyes and textile chemicals sectors

After destocking for several consecutive years, the printing and dyeing industry has been revitalized by the textile sector. From January to November, 2017, the printing and dyeing producers above a designated size produced 49.14 billion meters of printed and dyed fabrics, an increase of 5.63 per cent over the same period of a year earlier. Sector-related business revenue reached 354.9 billion yuan (approx. US$56.1 billion), up 6.2 per cent year on year, while profits grew 9.8 per cent year on year to 18.6 billion yuan (approx. US$2.9 billion).

China Textile Printing highlights the combination of technology, fashion and environmental protection

With the gradual transformation of the printing and dyeing industry, automation, digitalization and information technologies are being seen as a necessity and being more widely applied across the industry, driven by factors that include China's adjustment to a slower expected annual growth of the economy (what is often referred to as the "New Normal", the advent of Internet+ [the Chinese government's program to encourage manufacturers to incorporate the internet into their industry chain]) and intelligent manufacturing. The advances in digital printing technologies are increasingly meeting the expectations of consumers as it relates to color and function, and are becoming a new highlight and growth point of the industry as the economic model of China's textile industry transitions into an innovative, eco-friendly and low-carbon one.

This year's China Textile Printing was held concurrently with the world's largest dyeing exhibition, with the aim of creating a one-stop "shop" for the procurement of textile, printing and dyeing products, while, at the same time, serving as a wider platform for the development of the industry. Leading digital printing companies including Epson, MS, Hangzhou Honghua Digital Technology, Hangzhou Kaiyuan Computer Technology, Human Digital Technology and Newtech Textile Technology Development, ink producers including Huntsman, Everlight Chemical, Zhengzhou Hongsam Digital Science & Technology and Zhejiang Lanyu Digital Technology, as well as printing and dyeing automation technology providers including Greensign, Changshu Hongda Textile Printing and Dyeing and Wuxi Xinda Dyeing Machine Factory plan to showcase their latest products at the event, to jointly build a platform for the transformation of the textile and printing and dyeing industry from a perspective of sustainable development.

In 2018, the 100th anniversary of China's dyestuff industry, China Dyestuff Industry Association plans to host the launch event for the establishment of a pan-Asian dyestuffs federation. Many industry associations, including China Dyeing and Printing Association, China Cotton Textile Association, China Knitting Industrial Association, and China Dyestuff Industry Association's Organic Pigment Professional Committee, Additives Professional Committee and Masterbatch Professional Committee will host supporting forums. Zhejiang Lonsen Holding, Transfar, Dymatic Chemicals and Switzerland-based TESTEX will organize several technical seminars, presenting advanced technologies and concepts and providing professional visitors with opportunities for exchanges and cooperation.

In a move to accelerate the transformation of China's dyestuff industry, and help the industry to become a much more active player on the world stage, the organizer of China Interdye plans to continue hosting the Interdye Asia Tour, a platform for exchanges. Interdye Asia Tour will be held in Vietnam once again, taking place in HoChiMinh City in November 2018. The event is expected to go a long way in creating the conditions for Chinese dyestuff and chemicals producers to go globally, build China's homegrown brands, improve after services, and bring the supplying and purchasing parties together, enabling them achieve mutual benefits and win-win cooperation.
