UMAH organizes Night of Empowerment engagement events since 2013 to foster peace, harmony, and unity across Canada. The events feature local muslims and community allies as they stir dialogue surrounding the impacts of xenophobia. These events create spaces to have courageous conversations that challenge misconceptions.

Confirmed speakers for the event are:

  1. Gabriella Fayant, CEO and Co-Founder, Assembly of Seven Generations (A7G)
  2. Lilia Ait, Speaker for Humans for Peace
  3. Fareed Khan, Parliamentary Affairs and National Thought Leader
  4. Farheen Khan, Activist, Writer, Broadcaster

The event will be moderated by Tahbit Chowdhury, President of the Council for the Advancement of Muslim Professionals (CAMP). First established in 1994, CAMP is an inclusive North American networking organization that focuses on economic issues by developing human capital across communities.

The event will run as an interactive panel between speakers and guests, followed by an open Question and Answer period as well as a community networking component over refreshments.

Members of the Media are asked to attend.

The tour is set to continue with a second Night of Empowerment on March 24, 2018, at 6:30pm at the Kahanoff Centre in Calgary. The tour ends with a Unity Iftar set for May 27, 2018, at The 519 community centre in downtown Toronto in partnership with the El-Tawhid Juma Circle and the Toronto Unity Mosque.
