INCubatoredu is Fostering Young Female Entrepreneurs

BARRINGTON, Ill., March 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- March is designated as National Women's History Month and this year's theme, "Nevertheless, She Persisted", is especially poignant to INCubatoredu, a high school entrepreneurial program. The theme was chosen to honor women who have made contributions to America's history and also to recognize and encourage those who are contributing to America's future. INCubatoredu is on the forefront of cultivating the future potential that young women possess through their entrepreneurial programs for high school students. In addition, INCubatoredu has developed a program for elementary school students called, freshINCedu, to engage these future success stories at a younger age.

The FreshINCedu program allows Fifth and Sixth grade girls to be actively engaged in their learning while building a foundation of entrepreneurial skills such as creative thinking, resilience, problem solving and collaboration. Currently 40% of the students taking the class are female and the numbers are growing. Students in the class develop a product, pitch their idea, and launch their business. The students need to make enough units of their product in order to sell their product on an e-commerce site.

"The learning extends beyond the classroom by stimulating the curiosity of young girls in their tweens to identify a problem and create a business solution to solve that problem," said Margarita Geleske, INCubatoredu Executive. "Knowing that they are capable of taking their idea and turning it into reality is very empowering for these young girls."

FreshINCedu, for elementary students and INCubatoredu, for high school students, open up a whole new world of opportunities for young women. Early engagement will generate more interest at the high school level and beyond. High School students, Kat and Laura Mena, used their skills to develop a product, Cleat Guard, which is currently in the patent stage and the broad market potential is very high. Successful female entrepreneurs of the future need to start developing skills at a young age so "Nevertheless, She Persisted" will be a mindset for every young girl.

Uncharted Learning is a 501(c)3, not for profit organization. The mission is to bring authentic, rigorous, and experiential education to students to foster development of real-world skills. Incubatoredu and freshINCedu are entrepreneurial programs by Uncharted Learning, NFP.
