5-Year-Old Twins Leave the Playground to Run in the LA BIG 5k to Support Rare Cancer

LOS ANGELES, March 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- For four years, the Searle twins Sage and Savannah have been participating in the LA BIG 5k. To date, the cute duo has raised almost $10,000, proving that size doesn't matter - heart does. The race has become quite the family tradition. Each year the twins fly from their home in Northern California to Los Angeles to participate. Six years ago, the girls lost their grandfather Vince Acquisto to bile duct cancer. In response, their grandma created The Bili Project Foundation with Vince's business partner Joy Stephenson-Laws. "Each year, the money the girls raise from the LA BIG 5k moves us closer and closer to finding possible treatment options ... and ultimately a cure!" said mom Melissa Searle.

These girls were born to make a positive difference in this world. They are an inspiration and reminder that some of the marathon's biggest runners aren't that big at all. What matters is believing you can make a difference. Together, they are taking on this challenge in honor of all those brave individuals fighting hepatobiliary cancers, which are among the hardest to detect and treat. The girls will be racing in their 4th LA BIG 5k at the LA Marathon on March 17, 2018. To become a Biliever and help them chase down these diseases, visit www.thebiliproject.org.
