Noah Lee, a Computational Biology major at Carnegie Mellon University, has been selected as the recipient of this year's scholarship. Lee, a sophomore from Sugar Land, TX, stated "I'm thrilled and so grateful for this honor. The opportunities this scholarship will bring go beyond simply easing financial burden ? this will help me navigate and understand more about the industry in a valuable way."

Clarkston Consulting's life sciences industry lead and partner Janel Firestein on selecting Lee, "The industry is in the midst of an almost complete metamorphosis. The way we develop and bring therapies to market is changing. We're tapping into new skills, new technologies, and new ways of thinking so the future of the industry will require a new kind of talent."

Firestein continued, "A future employee like Noah is exactly what the industry requires, he already sees how the relationship between pharma and the public has changed and appreciates what that means for the future. From a research perspective, he recognizes the need for an interdisciplinary, cross-functional approach to innovation. Noah has a bright future and we're all excited to see the amazing contributions he'll make to the industry."

"We are proud to continue our support of the Clarkston Scholars program and honored to see it granted to a deserving scholar in front of more than 1,200 industry leaders at our annual dinner," said Christopher P. Molineaux, President and CEO, Life Sciences Pennsylvania. "This scholarship is a truly meaningful way to encourage and develop future leaders in the life sciences industry."

In his studies, Lee leverages courses in biology, computer sciences, and mathematics to develop innovative and method-driven approaches to complex biology problems. Lee was selected from a recording-breaking number of applicants of university students attending a four-year institution in the state of Pennsylvania.

In addition to the $10,000 scholarship, he will receive exposure to the life sciences industry through mentoring with Clarkston Consulting and participation in Life Sciences Pennsylvania events over the next two years. Lee was honored at the Life Sciences Pennsylvania Annual Dinner and Awards Celebration on March 14, 2018.
