OPSEU First Vice-President / Treasurer says Doug Ford's numbers don't add up

TORONTO, March 15, 2018 /CNW/ - OPSEU First Vice-President / Treasurer Eduardo (Eddy) Almeida is calling out Doug Ford for the numbers he's throwing around: they don't add up.

"I heard Doug Ford on the radio bragging that he's knocked on tens of thousands of doors, but that's hard to believe," said Almeida. "If he'd really talked to that many everyday Ontarians, he'd know that we want a premier who does things instead of undoes them. Who puts people before ego and policy before bluster.

"I hear a lot of boasting from this guy, but not a lot of sense. He reminds me of somebody south of the border?maybe we should all start calling him 'The Douglass.'"

"And then I heard him say we're losing 'trillions' of dollars to the U.S. because of their corporate tax cut. That's another unbelievable number. Ontario's GDP is approximately $800 billion?far from the 'trillions' The Douglass speaks of," Almeida said.

Almeida says Ford is sounding more and more like the kind of career politician who speaks first and asks questions later:

"Look, I'm definitely not part of the political elite and I didn't grow up in a wealthy family. My parents were farmers and I work for a living?I was a crane operator before I became a correctional officer," said Almeida.

"But I've been elected as the treasurer of this great union because I'm good with numbers. And I'm telling you: The Douglass's numbers don't add up."
