CHICAGO, March 14, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This spring, there is an easy and crafty way to ensure all children have the right tools to succeed in the earliest stages of life. For the ninth consecutive year, A.C. Moore and Easterseals are teaming up to support child wellness, growth and happiness through their first five years of development through the Crafting A Better World campaign.
Consumers visiting participating A.C. Moore Arts and Crafts stores between March 18th and March 31st will have the opportunity to donate $1 to Easterseals' Make the First Five Count® initiative to help young children in their communities get the important Easterseals services they need to live happy and healthy lives.
A.C. Moore has raised more than $1 million in support of Easterseals' Make the First Five Count® initiative since 2010. Make the First Five Count offers online resources, including a free screening tool, to help parents monitor their child's progress in reaching development milestones in the first five years of life. So far, Easterseals and A.C. Moore have helped nearly 60,000 parents, grandparents and other loved ones take the next step in ensuring their child's wellness.
"We know that the first five years of life are critical in a child's development and long-term success," said Angela F. Williams, President and CEO, Easterseals. "Because children learn and grow at different rates, even the most attentive parents can miss important milestones. Our free online screening tool helps meet children where they are and identifies the specific skills they need to succeed at every age. Thanks to A.C. Moore, we have been able to help over 60,000 children and their families through the screening tool."
"Over the past eight years, with the support of our incredible customers, we are proud to have raised more than $1 million dollars to support Easterseals and its services for children living with disabilities," says A.C. Moore CEO Pepe Piperno. "These funds will help ensure families have the right resources to monitor their child's development and help children in our communities reach for, and realize, their full potential."
Why A.C. Moore and Easterseals
Together, A.C. Moore and Easterseals are igniting a movement designed to unite all parents and children through crafts and cause. Easterseals has walked alongside parents and families for almost 100 years. We know that the first five years of a child's life are the most critical ones for development. "Crafting connects." says Williams: "Not only are crafts an enjoyable activity for children, simple crafting can also help children learn important skills that affect their overall development. Crafting is just one of the ways parents can observe their children's developmental progress."
