ENBRIDGE GAS SCAM ALERT: Customers notified of a refund

TORONTO, March 13, 2018 /CNW/ - Enbridge Gas Distribution ("Enbridge") is advising customers of a text messaging scam. Previously, variations of this scam have also circulated through email.

The text scam advises that a 'refund' or 'rebate' has been processed and asks the recipient to click a link to complete an INTERAC e-transfer. 

Enbridge does not communicate with its customers by text message. Refunds are generally processed either directly on the bill or via cheque. Email transfers are available, but only at the customer's request.

Customers should:

• Not click on any links
• Not share any personal or account information
• Report suspicious activity to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or email the Customer Ombudsman at Enbridge Gas at [email protected]
