DALLAS, March 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The number of Americans who consider themselves spiritual but not religious continues to rise. Last year, the Pew Research Center indicated that 27 percent of Americans now describe themselves that way, which represents a boost of 8 percent in the last five years. José de la Torre has written a book that jibes with that trend, Spiritual Living for Busy People: How to Nourish Your Soul in Today's Hectic World, one he spent 20 years researching.

De la Torre believes more people might identify with the spiritual but non-religious movement if they were disabused of some common myths. In his book, he writes: "The simple fact is, you don't need to meditate for an hour or more each day to live spiritually. You don't need to run off to live in a cave. In fact, you don't need to do anything. We can live spiritually fulfilling lives amidst our busy lives because we are at our core, spiritual beings."

Chief among the myths that he explodes in his book are:

Known as the Be at Peace Coach, de la Torre is donating 100 percent of profits from his books purchased on Amazon, to the Wounded Warrior Project, which benefits America's war veterans.
