Live Roads Launches World's First Navigation App with HD Maps
TORONTO, March 13, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Live Roads, a revolutionary mobile navigation platform, today announces its launch on the Google Play Store as the first of its kind in the navigation app space. The app takes car navigation to the next level by providing users with access to HD Maps, Lane-Level Navigation, and an immersive and accurate driving experience.
Despite the evolution of smartphone and tablet technology over the last 20 years, current navigation systems have not kept pace and continue to be out of date. The Live Roads app leverages the technological advances of these devices to transform the driving experience.
By featuring real 3D Cars, HD Maps and Lane-Level Navigation, the app empowers users to experience a level of detail and control not possible with any contemporary navigation app available today. Other features include:
- Picture-In-Picture (PIP) Maps ? Users can see both HD and SD Maps at the same time for a higher level of detail and accuracy while driving

Live Roads is available as both a free and a premium app. The free version includes standard definition maps and traffic updates and only offers the HD Maps and Lane-Level Navigation when a user is approaching a turn. The Premium HD service, which costs 99 cents per month, includes all of the app's features (3D Car, HD Maps, PIP Maps, Lane-Level Navigation, Off Line Maps).
Live Roads also offers a points system to allow all users to experience the Premium HD service at no cost. Once free and premium users earn 10,000 Drive Points, they'll receive a month of Premium HD service for free. Drive Points can be earned in the following ways:
- By driving with the Live Roads app open: Users earn 20 points per 1 mile driven
- Reporting road incidents: Users earn 50 points for every incident reported
- Sharing the Live Roads app with friends and family: Users can earn a free month of Premium HD service per verified signup
Live Roads will be available on iOS later this summer and will be adding additional features, including Lane-Level Traffic, which will provide users with live traffic updates surrounding them lane by lane and which route is best to take in real time.
