MONTREAL, March 13, 2018 /CNW/ - Alain De Laet, CEO of Brewery Huyghe, family brewery since 1654, and well known for his Belgian beer Delirium Tremens is signing an exclusive import agreement for the whole of Canada with Guy McClelland "The Beer Knight", of McClelland Premium Imports.
Part of that deal is securing import for the province of Quebec through "Brasserie Huyghe Quebec Inc.", an affiliated company of Brewery Huyghe, making it the fist Belgian brewer to open an affiliate in Canada. McClelland, importer of Delirium Tremens, Fruli Strawberry Beer and Mongozo Premium Pilsener will also launch Averbode Abbey Ale in Canada. The agreement has a value of 15 million ?.
The official signing ceremony will take place 11:15am March 16, 2018 at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal.
Signing of the agreement will be witnessed by King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium who are visiting Canada on an official Royal Trade Mission, including a meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Governor General.
"A wonderful opportunity to bring beautiful authentic Belgian beer styles to the province of Quebec where there is a very strong affinity for European and, in particularly, Belgian beer," said Mr. McClelland.
