"In times of disaster, communities rally around those in need," said FHLBank Chicago President and CEO Matt Feldman. "Local financial institutions, in particular, play a crucial role in rebuilding efforts. Through our Community First Disaster Relief Program, we have the opportunity to stand with our members as they show their support for Wisconsin homeowners and businesses that have sustained damages."

Funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning today, March 12, 2018; the 60 day available application period concludes on May 11, 2018. Prospective applicants should contact an FHLBank Chicago member financial institution in their area to find out if they qualify for assistance. A list of member banks, credit unions, community development financial institutions, and insurance companies is available on fhlbc.com under Membership.

The Community First Disaster Relief Program was created in response to tornados and severe storms that devastated many Illinois counties in November 2013, and to serve as a blueprint for responses to future FEMA-declared disasters across Illinois and Wisconsin. Since then, the program has provided assistance to central and northern Wisconsin communities rebuilding from storms and flooding that occurred in 2016. Program details are available on fhlbc.com under Community Investment.
