Wheelchair Safety System Invented by InventHelp Inventor (DPH-222)

PITTSBURGH, March 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- "My daughter uses a power wheelchair, and whenever I see her drive off a steep curb it scares me," said an inventor from Thornton, Colo. "My greatest fear is the thought of her driving off a set of down stairs. In order to protect the user against falls, I developed this."

He developed the FAITH SMART STOP to ensure that the operator is stopped before reaching nearby dangers. The system enables the operator to avoid steep drops in terrain. This keeps the wheelchair from tipping or falling over due to a change in terrain. The unit stops the wheelchair from going down drop-offs in order to keep the operator safe. It also provides added peace of mind. Additionally, the invention reduces the risk of injury and/or death while operating a wheelchair.

The original design was submitted to the Denver office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
