ASTM International Spotlights Women in Standards, Launches News App


W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., March 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of International Women's Day and Women's History Month, one of the world's top leaders in standards and related services (ASTM International) is releasing a special issue of Standardization News magazine focused on the growing number of women who work with technical standards. The organization also launched a new "ASTM News" app featuring the award-winning magazine and a newsfeed.

Katharine Morgan, the first woman president in the 120-year-old organization's history, said, "The standardization community has led the way in providing opportunities for women, but we still have work to do ? overall ? in terms of attracting more girls and women to the engineering and STEM fields."

The "Women in Standards" March-April issue features the voices of dozens of women role models, including engineers, association leaders, consumer advocates, and more. It includes: a Q&A with Society of Women Engineers President Jonna Gerken of Pratt & Whitney, information on a United Nations-driven effort to involve more women in standardization, networking opportunities for women in standards, and more.

ASTM International will also highlight women's voices on its LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter (@ASTMIntl) channels throughout the month.

In addition, ASTM International has launched its free new "ASTM News" app that hosts the mobile-responsive edition of Standardization News as well as a feed for ASTM International news releases. It is now available in Google Play and the App Store or by searching "ASTM News."
