San Mateo County Building & Construction Trades Council Stands in Support of Gateway at Millbrae Station

MILLBRAE, Calif., March 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Recognizing the unique opportunity the Gateway at Millbrae Station development presents to the Millbrae region, the San Mateo County Building & Construction Trades Council has officially endorsed the development.

"The Gateway at Millbrae Station Development will bring much needed housing and employment to our county," said James Ruigomez, Chief Executive Officer, San Mateo County Building & Construction Trades Council. "On behalf of the Building Trades Council and the 16,000 highly skilled men and women of the Building Trades Affiliates, we urge the city council to expedite and approve this development to put local families to work."

If approved by the Millbrae City Council, Gateway at Millbrae Station would provide 400 critically needed new rental homes, including 80 veteran preferred affordable housing units, strategically located adjacent to the Millbrae BART station in an effort to heavily promote the use of public transportation.

By entering into a Project Labor Agreement (PLA), hundreds of local residents will have the opportunity to become a part of the construction workforce that will turn the Gateway at Millbrae Station development from a concept into reality.

These construction jobs will pay at the living wage creating an economic boost that will be felt by the thousands of small businesses in the region as the Gateway at Millbrae Station construction workforce will spend dollars in their shops.
