The A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation Donates $5 Million to USO Pathfinder(SM) Transition Program

ARLINGTON, Va., March 6, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation announced a $5 million, multi-year  investment in the USO PathfinderSM transition services program, which is dedicated to helping service members and their families chart the path from military service to thriving veteran status. The funds will help ensure transitioning service members and their families have access to USO Pathfinder services at military installations across the country, and will support the expansion of new USO Pathfinder locations over the next two years.

"The Clark family has long supported veterans' services, and the Foundation proudly carries on its dedication to those who have served in our military," said Mike Monroe, A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation director, veterans' initiatives. "We target our support to help veterans navigate the transition from military to civilian life and support initiatives and organizations that foster self-reliance for service members and their families."

USO Pathfinder provides transition services to help service members navigate, understand and engage with a global network of resources and programs available to support them as they reintegrate into their communities. With personalized assistance from a USO Pathfinder Scout, service members and their families can build individualized action plans as well as receive access to on-demand tools and a community of partners that offer resources, advice and connection to help them excel in their career journey.

Today there are currently 13 Pathfinder sites across the United States and additional sites are scheduled to open in 2018, including Fort Stewart, Georgia; Fort Wainwright, Alaska; Jacksonville, Florida; and Camp Pendleton, California. The Pathfinder program's goal is to open 25 sites by the end of 2020 and to become the nation's largest leading private transition resource for service members and their families.

"The USO Pathfinder program was born from the USO's core belief that when the estimated 200,000-plus service members transition from military service each year, they and their families should have seamless access to relevant opportunities to successfully transition into thriving veterans," said Dr. J.D. Crouch II, USO CEO and President. "The contribution from the Clark Foundation will help service members and their families achieve their personal and professional goals as they transition from military service and return home to their new communities."
