Texas Attorney Clyde M. Siebman Siebman, Burg, Phillips & Smith, LLP

Mr. Siebman was one of only two private practice attorneys from Texas to participate in The Naples Roundtable's inaugural Leahy Institute of Advanced Patent Studies in Naples, Florida. Named in honor of U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont, the Institute is dedicated to finding ways to improve and strengthen the patent system.

In addition to Mr. Siebman, participants included esteemed judges from U.S. District Courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit; respected patent law professors; in-house counsel from major U.S. innovation-centric companies; and leading patent attorneys from the U.S., United Kingdom, Germany and Japan.

"It was an honor to be invited to join this incredible group that's dedicated to improving the patent system," says Mr. Siebman. "The Naples Roundtable discussions are aimed at producing thoughtful and innovative solutions to existing and future issues in patent law."

Mr. Siebman was among seven panelists who discussed the best ways to address patent lawsuit venue issues following last year's precedent-setting U.S. Supreme Court decision in TC Heartland LLC v. Kraft Foods Group Brands LLC. That decision, which placed limits where patent litigation can be filed, is widely regarded as one of the most impactful patent rulings in recent Supreme Court history.

The founder and four-term president of the Eastern District of Texas Bar Association, Mr. Siebman earned selection as the Dallas/Fort Worth Lawyer of the Year for patent litigation in the 2018 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
