Government of Canada awards design contract for modernization of Daniel J. MacDonald Building


Renovations will ensure a renewed, enhanced and greener workplace for public servants

CHARLOTTETOWN, Feb. 22, 2018 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada is committed to investing in its buildings to ensure the effective delivery of programs and services to Canadians while increasing environmental efficiency and sustainability.

Today, Sean Casey, Member of Parliament for Charlottetown, announced the awarding of a $3.3?million contract to design the renewal project for the Daniel J. MacDonald Building in downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, and the Honourable Seamus O'Regan, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence. The contract was awarded to NORR Architects & Engineers Limited of Toronto, Ontario, and will include designing mechanical upgrades to the national headquarters for Veterans Affairs Canada.

The design work for the building renewal will begin immediately, with construction expected to start in January 2020 and be completed by fall 2023.
