Were you invited to use File my Return? You may be eligible to do your taxes over the phone!

OTTAWA, Feb. 21, 2018 /CNW/ -

Did you know?

If you received a letter from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) inviting you to use File my Return, you may be eligible to use our new free service to file your income tax and benefit return over the phone.

File my Return

The new service, called File my Return, lets eligible Canadians with low or fixed income whose situations remain unchanged from year-to-year file their income tax and benefit return through a dedicated, automated phone service. All you need to do is provide some personal information and answer a series of short questions over the phone. Canadians eligible to use File my Return will have received personalized invitation letters by mid?February 2018.

Using File my Return is fast, easy, and secure. The invitation letter will guide you through the steps needed to use the service to file a return. There are no paper forms to fill out or calculations to do.

The service uses the information the CRA has on record at the time of the call, plus answers given during the automated phone call to complete and file your income tax and benefit return, and allows all the deductions, benefits and credits you are eligible for.

Eligible individuals can begin using File my Return on February 26, 2018. The service will run 21 hours a day from 6 am to 3 am, Eastern time, 7 days a week, until April 30, 2018.

File My Return is just one more way the CRA is making it easier for Canadians to do their taxes, particularly those with low or fixed income whose financial situations remain unchanged year-to-year.

For more information about the service, go to File my Return.
