OTTAWA, Feb. 20, 2018 /CNW/ - Canada and the U.S. enjoy one of the closest relationships between any two countries in the world, and we know that, by working together, we can take on the global challenge of climate change, including by cooperating with the U.S.' states, cities, and stakeholders.

Minister McKenna will visit New York City, on February 20 and 21, 2018, to engage business leaders, United Nations officials, and students, in discussions to advance joint action on climate change and clean growth between Canada and the U.S. and to advance Canada's G7 priority on climate change, oceans, and clean energy.

During her visit, Minister McKenna will meet with New York City's Chief Resilience Officer and Senior Director of Climate Policy and Programs, Dan Zarrilli, to discuss the city's efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change impacts, such as rising sea levels.

Quotes

"We can already see the impacts of climate change on our cities, oceans, and economies. But by working together?in the U.S., Canada, and around the world?we can prevent these impacts and grasp the enormous opportunities. Today, innovations in clean-technology solutions on both sides of the border are protecting our environment and strengthening our economies?and Canada is committed to accelerating these transformations."
? Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change
