Youth Sports Organizations Facing New Federal Requirements to Prevent Sexual Abuse

BALA CYNWYD, Pa., Feb. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- High-profile sexual abuse cases involving coaches, doctors, and others in amateur and collegiate sports have prompted the passing of a new federal law aiming to prevent sexual abuse in youth sports. The Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act signed by President Trump on February 14, 2018, includes requirements for prevention training, prevention policies, and mandatory reporting.

"The new legislation unmistakably creates a new 'standard of care' in youth sports; some organizations will be impacted directly, others indirectly," shared Gregory Love, Esq., partner with the Law Firm of Love and Norris. "It is imperative that each youth sport organization understand what is required for its program, and how to comply."

In addition to clarifying the new federal requirements, the webinar will examine an effective child safety system helping organizations meet legal standards of care and reduce the risk of sexual abuse in youth sport contexts.
