Porsche introduces five new models at the 2018 Canadian International Auto Show

Canadian unveiling of the 911 Carrera T, 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series, 911 GT2 RS and 718 GTS models in Toronto

TORONTO, Feb. 15, 2018 /CNW/ - Porsche premiered a total of five new iterations of its 718 Boxster, 718 Cayman, and 911 two-door sports cars at Canada's largest auto show today.

The 718 Boxster GTS and 718 Cayman GTS engine output has now been increased to 365 horsepower thanks to a newly developed intake duct and an optimized turbocharger for the 2.5-litre, four-cylinder boxer engine. With these improvements, the engine delivers 15 horsepower more than the 718 S model and up to 35 horsepower more than its GTS predecessor models with naturally aspirated engines. The new range-topping mid-engine models are available with a six-speed manual transmission or optional seven-speed PDK. The GTS vehicles are equipped with a host of standard features, such as the Sport Chrono Package, Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with a mechanical rear differential lock, and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with a 10 mm lower ride height. Among the visual differences from the other 718 models, the GTS duo adopts a variety of special black elements outside and Alcantara trim inside.

The 2018 718 GTS models are now arriving at Canadian Porsche Centres, with pricing for the 718 Cayman GTS starting at $90,600, and $93,000 for the 718 Boxster GTS.

The new 911 Carrera T revives the puristic concept behind the 911 T of 1968: less weight, shorter transmission ratios from the manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive with mechanical rear differential lock for an enhanced performance and intense driving pleasure. The new model's unique appearance is based on the 911 Carrera and its engine delivers 370 hp. The 911 Carrera T ? at Porsche, "T" stands for Touring ? also boasts several other equipment features that are not available for the 911 Carrera, including a standard PASM sports chassis lowered by 20 mm, weight-optimized Sport Chrono Package, a shortened manual gear lever with red shift pattern, and Sport-Tex seat centres. The optional rear-axle steering and carbon-fibre full buckets seats, also not available for the 911 Carrera, can be had on the 911 Carrera T.

The rear window and rear side windows are made from lightweight glass and the door trims feature opening loops. The sound absorption has been largely reduced and rear seats can be omitted. The result: At an unladen weight of 1,424 kg, the two-seater is 6 kg lighter than a 911 Carrera with comparable equipment. Thanks to these measures, its exclusive gearbox, and differential, the 911 Carrera T can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds ? 0.1 seconds faster than the 911 Carrera Coupé.

The 911 Carrera T is now arriving in Canada and pricing begins at $116,500.

The new 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series is the most powerful and unique 911 Turbo S ever. The Coupé provides 607 hp and is limited to 500 units worldwide. In addition to a power increase of 27 hp, the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series is distinct from the standard 911 Turbo S due to its unique design, higher-quality materials and luxurious details. The sports car is intricately finished by hand in the new Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur at the headquarters in Zuffenhausen. Previously known as "Porsche Exclusive", the in-house workshop specializes in tailoring to customer wishes, as well as being responsible for limited-edition series. And for the first time ever, Porsche customers can have a matching chronograph from Porsche Design configured in the same design as their sports car.

The 3.8-litre, six-cylinder twin turbo flat engine with an exclusive power kit has a maximum torque of 553 lb.-ft., delivered between 2,250 and 4,000 rpm. This means that the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, and takes 9.6 seconds to cross the 200 km/h threshold.

Prices for the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series start from $293,800 in Canada.

The fastest and most powerful road-approved 911 is here. At the heart of this high-performance sports car is a 700 hp twin turbo flat six engine. Weighing in at 1,470 kg with a full fuel tank, the lightweight two-seater accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. The rear-wheel drive Coupé has a top speed of 340 km/h, and with its near-motorsport drive technology, the new 911 GT2 RS bests its 3.6-litre predecessor by 80 hp and achieves a torque figure of 553 lb.-ft. (an increase of 36 lb.-ft.).

The fastest 911 of all time set a new record for road-approved sports cars on the 20.6-km Nürburgring Nordschleife on September 20, 2017. The record time of 6 minutes and 47.3 seconds surpassed even Porsche's own expectations. The previous record for road-approved sports cars of 6 minutes, 52.01 seconds was broken in the first attempt.

Porsche also offers an optional Weissach package, which provides a weight saving of around 20 kg. The package includes additional elements made from carbon-fibre reinforced plastic and titanium. For instance, the roof and the anti-roll bars are made of carbon and wheels made from magnesium.

The 911 GT2 RS will be available in Canada starting from $334,000. The optional Weissach package is priced at an additional $35,370.
