Julie Timmer Appointed VP and General Counsel at Global Public Health Organization NSF International

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Feb. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- NSF International, a global public health organization, has appointed Julie Timmer to the position of Vice President and General Counsel.

Timmer brings more than 20 years of global law experience to NSF International, an independent not-for-profit organization with operations in more than 170 countries. In her new role, Timmer will advise and counsel NSF International leaders on the legal, risk and compliance aspects of business initiatives, policies, employment relationships and compliance issues.

As NSF International's General Counsel, Timmer will serve as a liaison among executive leadership, management, the Board of Directors, outside legal counsel and regulatory agencies in all legal and compliance matters. She will partner with NSF International teams to oversee compliance programs, review and develop negotiated agreements, review complex strategic transactions, and recommend strategies and solutions. Timmer will help evaluate and advise on expansion strategies and participate in long-range planning as NSF International continues to expand globally.

Before joining NSF International, Timmer served as Senior Counsel for Maxion Wheels, a global leader in automotive wheel manufacturing. During her tenure at Maxion, she led a range of corporate legal activities and provided counsel on global, regional and local legal issues related to the company's reputation, employees, and proprietary systems and technologies. She also developed legal frameworks in support of the company's business strategy, ensuring its ability to operate globally in accordance with its code of ethics as well as complex regulations and standards.

Raised in Stratford, Ontario, Timmer earned her undergraduate degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She later earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She started her career as a litigation associate specializing in commercial litigation in state and federal courts, employment litigation, employment counseling and labor contract negotiations.

In addition to an impressive law career, she is also an accomplished novelist and speaker. She lives in Ann Arbor, Mich.
