TORONTO, Feb. 13, 2018 /CNW/ - The Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada ("MFDA") has commenced disciplinary proceedings in respect of Paulita Bihis ("Respondent"). In its Notice of Hearing dated January 19, 2018, Staff of the MFDA alleges that the Respondent engaged in the following conduct contrary to the By-laws, Rules and/or Policies of the MFDA:

Allegation #1: From July 30, 2015 to October 22, 2015, the Respondent, in her capacity as Branch Manager, failed to identify regulatory concerns and take adequate supervisory action in response to information which indicated that an Approved Person for whom she had supervisory oversight, had engaged in unauthorized discretionary trading in the accounts of a client, contrary to MFDA Rules 1.1.2, 2.5.1, 2.5.5(f), and 2.1.1 and section 3 of MFDA Policy No. 3.

The first appearance in this proceeding will take place by teleconference before a Hearing Panel of the MFDA's Central Regional Council on March 13, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. (Eastern), or as soon thereafter as the appearance can be held, to schedule a date for the commencement of the hearing on the merits and to address any other procedural matters. The appearance will be open to the public, except as may be required for the protection of confidential matters.
