The timing of the week also honors the day PTA was founded, Feb. 17, 1897.

"At PTA, we know when families are engaged and families and schools work together, there is a positive impact on student success," said Jim Accomando, president of National PTA. "For over 120 years, National PTA has been encouraging families to get more involved in their child's education. Take Your Family to School Week is designed to highlight the importance of family engagement and family-school partnerships, and provide families with an opportunity to visit their child's school."

This school year, 55 local PTAs were selected to receive grants to host family engagement events during Take Your Family to School Week that focus on:

The grants were made possible by support from PTA Proud National Sponsors the all-new Chrysler Pacifica and Google Chromebooks.

"National PTA is excited to offer PTAs resources to get even more families involved in their child's education," said Nathan R. Monell, CAE, National PTA executive director. "Research proves that when families are involved at home and at school, children attend school more regularly, earn better grades, enroll in high-level programs and have higher graduation rates."

Take Your Family to School Week reinforces PTA's long legacy and mission to promote children's educational success, health and well-being through strong family engagement. For more information about Take Your Family to School Week, visit PTA.org/TYFTSW.
