Death of an inmate from Edmonton Institution


EDMONTON, Feb. 2, 2018 /CNW/ - On February 1, 2018, Tyrone Blue Blind, an inmate from Edmonton Institution, died while in our custody.

At the time of his death, Mr. Blind, 31 years old, had been serving a sentence of 4 years, 9 months and for Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Assault with a Weapon, Armed Robbery, Possession of a Schedule I/II Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking, Unlawfully At Large and Breach of Long Term Supervision Order, since January 17, 2008.

The inmate's next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances and contact the police and the coroner if required.
